Episode 6: Meditated in Murder

Summary

The leader of a spiritual retreat is found strangled en route to the contemplation garden, giving Jack plenty to think about as he tries to figure out which member of the group was responsible. The problem is, they were all meditating at the time of the murder, and are able to provide one another with alibis, so how could any of them be the killer? To add to the DI's problems, he is struggling to come up with a speech to honour Commissioner Patterson at an award ceremony. Caribbean whodunit, starring Ardal O'Hanlon.

Review

“I believe that sound you’ve just heard is DI Mooney solving a case,” rumbles Commissioner Selwyn Patterson. It happens every week and we know it’s coming, the moment when Jack suddenly and mysteriously tumbles to the truth of which guest star is a murderer. Will it be the former comedian, the one who was lovesick in Poldark or… the other one who was also in Poldark but is better known as the tortured Welsh detective?

They all play guests at a $2,000-a-week spiritual retreat on the north shore of Saint Marie, where people express their mood in clay sculpture, and experience “the healing power of the breath”. The owner of the place doesn’t: he breathes his last – strangled in the Contemplation Garden while everyone is meditating. Jack and his team find that enlightenment is hard to come by.
