Sandra and her pair of old-school detectives are rooting around in the dark and top-secret corners of the Foreign Office this week. Which is worrying because diplomacy doesn’t figure high on Gerry or Brian’s CV.
UCOS have reopened the case of Annabel Tilson, a rising star in the FO whose body was found in a frozen London lake in 2008 – the assumption being that she’d committed suicide because she’d recently had a miscarriage and been demoted at work after an office laptop had been stolen while in her care. But was her death connected to sensitive information on the computer as her profoundly deaf fiancé Eddie and twin sister Minnie believe?
James Wilby, Simon Day and Sharon Small (sadly underused as Annabel’s twin) guest star and you’ll be impressed at how, by fluke, the ageing ‘tecs manage to solve a case they weren’t even working on.
Sandra reopens an investigation into the suspected suicide of a Foreign Office diplomat, whose body was found in a frozen London lake after she had suffered the personal tragedy of a miscarriage and the professional embarrassment of having a government laptop stolen from her home. The woman's fiance and twin sister both believe her death is connected to sensitive information held on the missing computer and blame her boss for her downfall - and when Sandra clashes with the man himself, it only makes her more determined to pursue the conspiracy theory, despite Strickland's advice to tread carefully. Simon Day and Sharon Small guest star.
