When Dr Sam Nicholls swept into the ED last year we had no idea she was Dylan’s estranged wife. That’s partly because Dylan is such a peculiar, grizzled, blinking, arrogant, uptight, tactless sociopath that it was hard to imagine him having a relationship with anything warmer than a stethoscope.
But I like Dylan. He calls a spade a spade and a subarachnoid haematoma a subarachnoid haematoma. And even though his relationship with superwoman Sam came as a surprise, the chemistry of it was believable: they make sense as embittered exes. But there’s still plenty of unfinished marital business there and the two of them at last find the time and place to talk through their unresolved emotional issues: 30 feet underground in a collapsing cave with trapped casualties to treat. Guys – focus!
Two dog walkers are seriously injured after they fall into an underground cave system, and Sam is forced to conquer her fear of the dark to assist them. Help arrives in the form of Dylan, but the medics end up bickering about their marriage, placing the casualties in jeopardy. Linda's niece Britney causes trouble in the ED ahead of the family court date. Medical drama, featuring a guest appearance by West End star Connie Fisher.
