Review

An encounter here between David Attenborough and Greta in early 2020 feels like an old Jedi master passing on his wisdom to a young apprentice. “People are listening,” he assures her. It’s the boost the activist needs, as earlier she’s brought to tears by some world leaders’ the lack of understanding.

“I’m very emotional, small and weak,” she admits, but then adds that these are positive qualities as they allow her to be empathetic. Yet that strength is going to be needed in next week’s finale, as we’re left with news breaking about a virus that will affect Greta and her family directly: Covid-19.

Summary

Greta sets off to the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, to call for an immediate reduction in fossil fuel use, but is frustrated by what she sees as a media obsession constantly pitting her against Donald Trump. As she travels across Europe, Greta meets Polish miners who fear that climate change policies will further decimate their industry and culture, and discovers the prototype of a technology that aims to capture carbon dioxide from factory emissions before it enters the atmosphere. She also meets one of her inspirations - Sir David Attenborough.
