In the final episode of this delightful series (it must return, it must!), Tim Dunn visits a railway building that’s in a very sorry state.
Wingfield station in Derbyshire is one of the oldest surviving railway stations in the world (it opened in 1840), but after closing in 1967, it sagged into disuse and dilapidation.
Though it’s a Grade II*-listed building, the place is a wreck. But thanks to the Derbyshire Historic Buildings Trust, Wingfield will be restored, repaired and saved to be run as a community business hub.
Despite its pitiful state, the ever-enthusiastic Tim Dunn is overwhelmed by what it used to be and by what, with any luck, it will eventually become.
