Review

If you like your bread in hunks rather than dainty triangles, this is definitely for you, because brothers Tom and Henry Herbert make hearty grub that’s definitely off limits if you’re on a post-Christmas diet.

To give you an idea, their first “epic” dish is a chip butty (actually, to be fair, it’s to illustrate how to make a perfect white loaf), while each week they have a pie-making competition. Cupcakes and fondant fancies obviously aren’t their thing.

They’re an attractive pair with an easy-going charm and a nice line in brotherly teasing, which is just as well, as Henry’s Gloucestershire butcher’s shop is right next door to Tom’s artisan bakery.

Summary

Cookery show presented by chef Henry Herbert and his brother Tom, who runs a bakery next to his sibling's butcher's shop in Gloucestershire. The pair demonstrate hearty recipes and new twists on baking classics, and compete in culinary challenges. The series begins as the duo prepare the perfect white loaf and show off the `trencher', a recipe for a steak sandwich topped with wild mushrooms and crispy salad.
