Review

Just another anomaly in 2020’s sporting calendar – a Six Nations scrum-down in October. Fans were left hanging in March with the championship wide open: of the contenders who could still win it (England, France, Scotland and Ireland), only Ireland have their destiny entirely in their own hands.

If they beat Italy today and France next weekend and, crucially, collect a bonus point (for scoring four or more tries) from each game, they will top the table. Clear? Otherwise England, with one match to play (also against Italy), look favourites.

Mark Pougatch hosts the action from Dublin's Aviva Stadium. Meanwhile on ITV4 (7:30pm), Wales reunite for a warm-up against France.

Summary

Ireland v Italy (Kick-off 3.30pm). Coverage of both teams' fourth match of the championship, held at Aviva Stadium, as the competition resumes after a break of more than seven months. Ireland had won both their home fixtures, overcoming Scotland and Wales, but they did lose their last match against England at Twickenham. However, they will be expecting to get back to winning ways today as the Italians have not won a Six Nations contest since 2015. Mark Pougatch presents, with analysis from Rory Best, Brian O'Driscoll and Maggie Alphonsi, commentary by Miles Harrison, Gordon D'Arcy and Danielle Waterman, and reports from Gabriel Clarke.
