Chuck those dull digestives and boring bourbons in the bin: the remaining eight amateur bakers are making biscuits that you’ll dream about for the rest of the week. At least some are. Trying to make brandy snaps when your oven’s set on defrost is never going to work and one contestant’s macaroons look more like an alien lifeform than a meringue confection fit for a fairy.
The contestants are all neurotic now, peering into their ovens, fretting over presentation and wacky blends of flavours. And Paul Hollywood’s “It doesn’t quite work, does it?” said gently but with a grimace can make the stoutest baker cry.
Summary
The remaining bakers test their biscuit-making skills as they embark on a series of challenges. After cooking their own interpretation of a classic, the contestants face the task of baking brandy snaps. Preparing a display of macaroons forms the final leg of the challenge, before the judges reveal who will leave the competition. Presented by Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins.
