Review

It’s January and it’s freezing, but there’s no chance of our farmers having a few warming hours by the kitchen range. There’s always work to be done. It’s a tough time, this month between breeding and birthing, as Matt and Danni discover when the first calf to be born on their Lake District farm arrives prematurely. In Scotland, Helen and Graham are anxiously waiting to hear whether their Highland cows have a chronic wasting disease, while in Aberdeenshire Isla and George are concerned that a young calf deer is being bullied by the herd. Meanwhile, Northumberland shepherdess Emma lets puppy Grey loose with a flock of sheep for the first time.

Summary

On the Stoer Peninsula, Helen and Graham prepare for a visit from the vet, who is coming to take blood samples from the herd to test for a chronic wasting disease. In Northumberland, Emma's six-month-old puppy Grey is introduced to sheep for the first time, while in the Lake District, Matt and Dani Blair are dealing with an unexpected new arrival. On Little Rowater Farm in Aberdeenshire, a deer calf shows signs of being bullied by the herd.
