Review

Back in January, every FA Cup third-round match was delayed by one minute to encourage fans to think about their mental health. None of them could have imagined that the final itself would be delayed by 70 days for a different sort of health crisis, but here we are at last. You might have to sing Abide with Me yourself, though.

Arsenal face Chelsea in a London derby that features two teams rebuilt this season by smart young managers who both represented their clubs as polished midfielders. In the semi-finals, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta oversaw a defensive masterclass to frustrate favourites Manchester City, while mercurial striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang poached both goals.

Over in west London, Frank Lampard has diligently overhauled a tired Chelsea squad, although none of his whippersnappers will be as eager to win this evening as 33-year-old Olivier Giroud, who’s aiming for his fifth Cup winner’s medal.
