Review

This epic, four-part portrait tells the story of the kung fu-loving crew Wu-Tang Clan, who changed the face of hip-hop in the early 1990s by pioneering a darker, more intense style than most of the old-school artists of the previous decade.
Part one takes the Clan back to their roots in Staten Island, New York, where family photos provide valuable insights into their youth together. The multi-episode documentary format, as popularised by Netflix, allows the story room to breathe and gives us time to get acquainted with the characters behind the menacing MC monikers, while exploring the environment that spawned them.
