Britain's Got Talent

Series 14 - Episode 7

Review

One of the biggest surprises this series has been how Simon Cowell has increasingly mellowed. In years gone by, a dinosaur on a synthesizer would have had him reaching for his red button. Now, he’s saying, “I love it” and giving a standing ovation. The world really has gone mad.

It feels ever so slightly anticlimactic as the end of Britain’s Got Talent’s pre-recorded auditions hurtle towards us. Not only aren’t we heading straight into a week of live shows, but also all five Golden Buzzer acts have already been revealed. One of the joys of BGT is waiting for an unexpected slam of that glitzy plunger, but all of this series’ cards, in that respect, have been played.

Summary

Ant and Dec host the 14th series of nationwide talent search, which sees a wide variety of acts, from comedians to contortionists, singers to spoon players, compete for the chance to win £250,000 and a coveted slot at the Royal Variety Performance. Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams are once again on hand to judge this week's applicants, and each of them has the chance to put their favourite contestant straight through to the live semi-finals by awarding them the Golden Buzzer.
