Review

It’s unfortunate that this drama set at an investment bank arrives so soon after BBC2’s Industry. Where that took a sharp blade to dissecting the City and its ways, this takes more of a breadknife – but a very stylish Italian breadknife, at least.

It is adapted from an Italian novel and has a sheen of opulent thriller style. Everyone talks in the worldly way of financial dramas, showing how wise they are with lines like “They say the devil’s greatest trick is making us think he doesn’t exist…” or “Some say the best way to predict the markets is to cause them…”

Our protagonist is Massimo (Alessandro Borghi), a star trader who drives a Ferrari and predicted (or possibly caused) a meltdown in Greece. He is up for a promotion but someone is out to sabotage him: his patrician rival (Ben Miles) or his CEO and mentor (Patrick Dempsey)?
