Review
by
Jane Rackham
The sun was shining when the
Antiques Roadshow
crew set up in front of the historic Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich, last September for a scaled-down edition of the programme. And the treasures brought in for perusal were as bright and sparkling as the weather… the necklace, for instance, that was apparently valued at more than the average property in the UK.
There’s also a Rolex watch. They’re frequently seen on the show, but rare ones can be very valuable: you may remember back in 2019 how a Rolex Submariner was valued at £50k, while in America one owner learnt the watch he paid £265 for was worth more than £500k.
Summary
Fiona Bruce and the team are in Christchurch Park in Ipswich, where items assessed include an heirloom Rolex, memorabilia related to Donald Campbell's land-speed record and a necklace worth half a million pounds. There is also a rare Roman relic dug up in the garden and a pocket watch with a hidden secret.
