Review
by
Alison Graham
Enjoy a blast of sea air with formidable, inexhaustible hiker Julia Bradbury as she yomps along the North Atlantic Coast Walk.
It’s a cheerful and spectacular burst of escapism that begins in Padstow, where of course she must meet a member of the Stein family. Not Rick, but his chef-son Jack. Of course, there must also be a barbecue on the beach with the day’s freshly caught catch.
Bradbury visits the lovely Prideaux estate, with the beautiful country house Prideaux Place at its heart – “I feel like I need a bonnet and heaving bosoms” she chirrups, walking up the drive. And she later learns about the mermaid that cursed Padstow with the treacherous Doom Bar.
Summary
The presenter walks through Cornwall and Devon, which boast more than 5,000 miles of footpaths, from the rugged rocks of Dartmoor to the picturesque port of Padstow. In the second episode, Julia walks five miles of the stunning north Cornish coast, from popular picturesque Padstow to the surfing hotspot of Trevone Bay. Along the way she experiences dramatic coastal landscapes featured in Poldark, before getting up close to a herd of Fallow Deer in the historic Prideaux Estate.
