Summary
Les Vegas is alive, and Emily becomes his unwilling partner-in-crime. Les plots his escape from Sandylands, and Emily manages to keep them all from the mysterious One-Eyed Man.
Les Vegas is alive, and Emily becomes his unwilling partner-in-crime. Les plots his escape from Sandylands, and Emily manages to keep them all from the mysterious One-Eyed Man.
After discovering her estranged father, king of the pier Les Vegas (Sanjeev Bhaskar), has faked his own death, Emily must overcome her sense of betrayal to deliver the eulogy at his beachside memorial — a classic sitcom set-piece set to the sound of Robbie Williams’s Angels.
For all its tonal lurches, there’s no denying Sandylands, which first aired in 2020 on Gold, captures the sheer weirdness of the seaside resort, with Craig Parkinson’s vainglorious DJ the pick of the caricatures and Bhaskar finding pathos in the swirling silliness. Hugh Bonneville’s long-trailed arrival, his professional capacity revealed at the last moment, sets up next week’s finale very nicely.
