Review

The daters’ personal revelations are often very moving: whether it’s an acrimonious divorce, an unexpected family death or some other trauma. But hearing Sophie, 23, reveal why she “had a bad year last year”, and watching new-to-lesbian-dating Rachel, 59, address “the elephant in the room” is truly jaw-dropping.

Meanwhile, sitting at the bar is Rachel, 23, who memorably brought her brother for a double date last time. It didn’t go well. Things look more hopeful when she hooks up with Liam, a 20-year-old nurse, who also doesn’t eat salad, will drink anything if it’s free and has been “single since I was born”. A match made in heaven.

Summary

The restaurant of love throws opens its doors at the most romantic time of the year, as maitre d' Fred Sirieix and his staff hope to help more singletons find their perfect match. Hopefuls include 59-year-old Rachel, who is embarking on her first date with a woman. She quickly takes a shine to Debs - but how will her date feel once she knows Rachel's story? Beauty queen Sophie is keen to prove there is more to her than her Miss Bournemouth title suggests as she sits down with cheeky chappy Bailey, while boxing compere and tattoo artist Jon wants to meet someone who will look past his tough guy exterior.
