British actors love playing dress-up on Murdoch Mysteries and the latest UK star time-travelling back to early 20th-century Toronto is Claire Goose, one-time star of Waking the Dead and axed-too-soon daytime crime drama The Coroner. Here, she’s playing a Votes for Women advocate caught up in an explosion at a women’s suffrage rally that’s also being attended by Murdoch’s wife Julia. He, of course, starts to fret that she’s putting herself in danger by championing the cause.
But at least he’s more open-minded than Inspector Brackenreid, who’s already had his fill of suffragettes. “The world’s bloody changing and no one can keep up with it,” he complains, as baffled and intolerant as ever.
