Review

This is the 19th run of this C4 perennial, which manages to draw such full portraits of its subjects with just a few brief strokes.

There’s Rosina, a 62-year-old bra fitter who came a cropper on a dancefloor, and her lovable husband Gino, who have been married for 44 years. There’s Paula, 40, who’s suffering from complications brought about by the cancer she was treated for 20 years ago; the extra worry for her and husband David is that she’s also pregnant.

And then there’s Bulgarian Vassie, mum to Eduard, 14, who’s broken his leg. She has quite the tale to tell about how she came to settle in London, via an eventful sojourn in Malta, and with the help of one José Mourinho.

Summary

The return of the documentary about life inside an A&E department, following patients treated in the same 24-hour period at St George's in south-west London. Fourteen-year-old Eduard is rushed in after falling from a swing and fracturing his ankle, while 62-year-old Rosina is treated having broken her wrist on the dancefloor at a family party. Paula is in Resus having been unable to take in food through her feeding tube and it is not only her health that is in danger, but also that of her unborn baby.
