Pudsey ears at the ready! Graham Norton, Mel Giedroyc, Ade Adepitan, Tess Daly, Tom Allen and Marvin and Rochelle Humes host tonight’s live extravaganza of entertainment and fundraising.
Opening the show will be a performance from Big the Musical, featuring Strictly Come Dancing winner Jay McGuiness, while staying on the theme, this year’s
Children in Need
Strictly special will see EastEnders’ stars Rudolph Walker, Ricky Champ, Louisa Lytton and Maisie Smith compete to lift the Pudsey Glitterball trophy.
Also on the bill are Doctor Who and Star Wars specials, a return for Crackerjack along with – perhaps ominously – the Countryfile presenters “as you’ve never seen them before”. Meanwhile, Graham Norton’s Red Chair is taken over by a host of young carers who have the power to flip the celebrities whose jokes fail to amuse, footballers Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling surprise children from the England Amputee Football Association and there’s a pop-star special of quiz show The Hit List starring the likes of Girls Aloud’s Nadine Coyle and Blue’s Antony Costa. Music performances on the night come courtesy of smoothies Michael Ball and Alfie Boe, Westlife, and former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson.
Elsewhere, there’s a special of Bargain Hunt (12.15pm BBC1) featuring Debbie McGee, Joe Pasquale and Sooty and Sweep, while there’s a Dragons’ Den special of I’ll Get This (10pm BBC2) – the game show where someone has to pick up the bill in a restaurant – along with another chance to see Children in Need: Got It Covered at 12.30am.
Graham Norton, Tess Daly, Mel Giedroyc and Ade Adepitan introduce guest appearances from the nation's most-loved celebrities, helping raise money for disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. Including an EastEnders edition of Strictly Come Dancing, in which Ricky Champ, Louisa Lytton, Maisie Smith and Rudolph Walker compete for the Pudsey Glitterball. Ricky is partnered with Luba Mushtuk, Louisa with Gorka Marquez, Maisie with Kevin Clifton and Rudolph with Nancy Wu. Plus, studio performances from West End shows Big and Circus 1903, the Children in Need Choir singing live up and down the country, a visit from Doctor Who, a Star Wars spectacular, the long-awaited return of children's favourite Crackerjack, Countryfile presenters as never witnessed before and a special surprise courtesy of the England football team. Featuring regular reports of fundraising efforts around the regions.
