Series 1 - Episode 1

Review

Author Damian Barr hosts a genial, informative and funny cross between a salon and a book group, with the joyous welcome “Books are back on telly!” Hooray for that. The theme of the first of four shows is Tartan noir (crime, of course) with the two halves of “author Ambrose Parry” – bestselling writer Chris Brookmyre and his wife Marisa Haetzman, a consultant anaesthetist. Their book The Way of All Flesh is a grisly delight set in Victorian Edinburgh.

Of course, no programme on Scottish crime fiction would be anywhere near complete without Rebus creator Ian Rankin, while former solicitor Sara Collins discusses her highly praised debut novel The Confessions of Frannie Langton.

Summary

Book review show, hosted by Damian Barr. He is joined by Ian Rankin, Sara Collins and Ambrose Parry (aka Chris Brookmyre and Marisa Haetzman), with poet Richard Scott.
