Series 1 - Episode 9 No Cure: Part One

Review

This funny/painful look at the dark side of parenting has kept a fine balance between the fun and the pain. Now the final double bill tips fully towards the parts of being a parent that are no easy matter to joke about, though Breeders still manages.

Paul gets a work opportunity just as Ally’s job in Germany is taking off. Then they’re blindsided by something that leaves all comedy in the hands of the supporting cast.

When that cast includes Patrick Baladi as a gloriously craven boss and Alun Armstrong as an out-of-his-depth granddad, we’re in safe hands. The writing (Simon Blackwell) and direction (Chris Addison) are immaculate, too. More series, please.

Summary

Part one of two. Everything changes when Ally's job takes her to Berlin and Paul tries to muddle along without her, but then the children stop sleeping.
