Review

For pure spectacle, there won’t be a better cup tie this weekend. Dulwich Hamlet, from the National League South, have one of the most colourful fanbases in non-league football, so expect this first-round match to be played out against a backdrop of pink and blue flares and banners to make this leafy corner of south London look like the San Siro.

It’s been a difficult few seasons for the Hamlet following a legal battle over their Champion Hill ground that made them homeless for nine months, so they deserve their 90 minutes in the spotlight tonight as they face League Two strugglers Carlisle United. The two clubs might be two leagues apart on the pitch, but the home support might just tip the balance for the underdogs.
