Whenever a police officer gets into trouble in a crime drama, he or she always says, “My job is on the line here!”. And so it is with the shifty, deeply unpleasant detective chief inspector who talks with inappropriate mateyness to just about everyone as he investigates the murders linked to the trans helpline.
“I need a distraction,” he tells his subordinate, but in the sense of a scapegoat –he doesn’t want to go to the circus to take his mind off the terrible mess he’s in. But none of us should worry that the police are in chaos because Nikki, Jack and Thomas are investigating and piecing the evidence together, so all is well with the world.
