Sometimes the wacky-silly energy on this show goes boom. Everything clicks and it feels as if we’re eavesdropping on first-class mucking-about among a bunch of friends who really know how to make fun of each other. Tonight is one of those episodes, without a dud task or a limp piece of banter in it.
“Katy, let’s move away from sex gnomes…” is a typically oddball quote, while one of the highlights is Ed Gamble’s remarkable impression of a bike horn on a task where the competing comedians have to put sound effects to a silent film. Also, if you’ve ever wished that the show’s tense, galloping theme music had lyrics, you’re in luck: they write some.
