Review

Si King and Dave Myers have no beef with their grub as they bike through Oklahoma and Texas. Well, actually they have a lot of beef. Before they’ve left Oklahoma City, they’ve tucked into a T-bone steak and a Vietnamese beef pho, as well as fried lambs’ testicles. “This beats quinoa!” chortles Si, who you imagine isn’t rushing to watch Jamie’s Meat-Free Meals.

After a brief stop for a juicy burger and a cowboy feast of beef (obviously) ’n’ beans, they join some burly firemen who are real barbecue fiends, spending days – literally, days – dry-rub seasoning, smoking and cooking their beef brisket. It’s not exactly fast food.

Summary

The third leg of Dave Myers and Si King's trip sees them on the trail of Oklahoma's famous beef. In Oklahoma City, a classic T-bone steak is followed by a visit to the city's Vietnamese community, where they knock up their national dish pho - a broth made of beef or chicken. After checking out El Reno's unique onion burger the duo hook up with a couple of fire crews who like to cook - especially brisket. An organic sweet potato farm inspires Dave and Si to make sweet potato brownies, before they finish this stretch on a cattle ranch with America's most iconic custodian of the land - the cowboy.
