Review

Inventor Samuel Petrukhin is in turmoil - who is he working for when when he is asked to spy on the charismatic MP Richard Shaw and his wife Kathleen? The British government? Or the Soviet Union? He doesn't know who is telling the truth as he is confronted by two very different stories.

Paranoia is rampant as the threat of nuclear annihilation looms. But troubled Kathleen (Keeley Hawes) is close to unravelling over the sad disappearance of her son Anthony. She can't give up, and even the tiniest clue leaves her bursting with hope.

But maybe little Sasha Petrukhin (heartbreaking Toby Woolf) can help. Poor kid, he's suffering miserably at that awful school run by the cane-happy brute Tezler (Peter Firth). Each scene in Stephen Poliakoff's lush drama looks like a painting and each of its constituent dramas sizzles with emotion - and great danger.

Summary

Kathleen has a new lead on Anthony, and Sasha does his own investigating at school, which has dramatic consequences. Lord Wallington reveals more about the MI5 men to Samuel. Drama series set in the UK during the Cold War period, starring Toby Stephens and Keeley Hawes.
