There’s bonkers and then there’s this. You can’t possibly take anything seriously when most of the characters are dressed up as comic-book heroes. Even DC Winter is sporting some sort of Super Chicken outfit.
DCI Barnaby is definitely out of his comfort zone – and out of Midsomer because he’s investigating a murder in the village of Carver Valley. It’s hosting its seventh annual comic festival run by Timothy Argo, whose father was murdered a few years earlier. Add to the mix a supermodel in a coma, a hotly contested election for position of sheriff, an arrogant comic-book writer who is making a comeback (played by Bill Bailey), several strange marriages and you’ve got more outlandish suspects with convoluted motives than a game of Cluedo.
Summary
A comic convention is held in Carver Valley, but the event gets off to a sinister start when the latest creation of a mysterious writer is stolen from the organiser's house and burned. Barnaby takes up the case, which turns murderous when a former supermodel is killed during the event. The only clue is an unusual issue of the missing comics, which seems to reveal the dark secrets of six local people - and provides the police with six likely suspects. Guest starring Bill Bailey and Jemma Redgrave.
