Review

Many good sitcoms have been built around a down-on-their-luck character being unfairly put upon by those around them and getting into endless pickles that aren’t their fault, and so it is with this new comedy by PhoneShop writer Phil Bowker and actor-writer Samson Kayo. Joshua (Kayo) works at Sliced, a London pizza shop where he and best friend Ricky (Theo Barklem-Biggs) are constantly up against demanding customers and an unstable boss.

There are some snappy lines in the three-part series, but it could have been tightened around the edges – perhaps as a result of much of the series being improvised. Still, it’s definitely worth a nibble.

Summary

Comedy set amongst the hustle and bustle of a low-rent, backstreet pizza parlour, following the adventures of delivery riders Joshua (Samson Kayo) and Ricky (Theo Barklem-Biggs). It's all change at Sliced, as mercurial manager Mario hires new girl Naomi to join the team. Joshua falls head over heels in love with her but things get held up when he encounters a rather challenging customer.
