Urban Myths: Grace Jones

Review

The spoof anthology reimagines an event in New York in 1979, when the supermodel/disco diva Grace Jones and her artist boyfriend Jean-Paul Goude were held at gunpoint in their penthouse by a burglar demanding large sums of money.

Grace under Pressure struggles and largely fails to land laughs or create a sense of authenticity. Too much facial mugging and a backstreet that looks a long way from Manhattan work against it. There are one or two pleasing touches – David Ajala as the unnamed burglar keen to live to see his daughter’s birthday and a strange cameo from Emily Atack as Debbie Harry – but this is a disappointing entry in the series.
