Review

Living in an outdated and dreary home? Then make a brew in the rank kitchen before getting comfortable in the soul-destroying front room because George Clarke is back with tips on how to make your house a little less dismal.

Steve and Celine live in the pretty village of Claverdon, Warwickshire, but they’re embarrassed about their tatty 1960s property. No previews were available, so I couldn’t see why. But I’m guessing the problem can’t be fixed with a coat of whitewash and a Poang armchair from Ikea. Indeed, pretty soon Celine is demanding a dominant kitchen island, but does this mesh with the ambitious vision of architect Graeme Williamson? The prospect of tears has been teased.

Summary

George is joined by leading architects to help transform some of Britain's most unloved houses into desirable properties. In the village of Claverdon, Warwickshire, Steve and Celine's are embarrassed by their 1960s A-frame house. Having remained untouched for nearly 50 years, it is stuck in a time warp and is falling apart at the seams. George Clarke enlisted the help of architect Graeme Williamson to drag the house into the 21st century and make it fit for a family of five. Steve and Celine already have their own ideas - but can Graeme convince them to buy into his ambitious architectural vision?
