Series 5

Review

Series five of the unbreakable painting show, and today’s four pros and five amateurs are sizing up three famous sitters. Saturday Kitchen host Andi Oliver and actors Geraldine James and Matthew Goode (The Crown’s Lord Snowdon) are the celebs charged with keeping still for four hours and trying not to say wow when the canvases are turned.

It’s all effortlessly enchanting – at one point a six-year-old girl gets her pencils out and joins in. Funny, too: co-host Stephen Mangan becomes a rudimentary human beatbox to coax one contestant into revealing his other skill, hip-hop dancing. And the time-lapse sequences will, you feel, work their magic for ever.

Summary

Joan Bakewell and Stephen Mangan launch another talent search, with the first nine contestants painting celebrity sitters Matthew Goode, Geraldine James and Andi Oliver.
