Review

Martin Clunes couldn’t be more different from his Doc Martin character. He just loves everything judging by the wide, joyful grin permanently slapped on his face. It doesn’t matter whether he’s visiting a Tabasco sauce factory in Avery Island, Louisiana, trapping cute Arctic foxes (for conservation reasons) on the remote islands known as America’s Galapagos because of their wildlife, or checking out a (completely legal) cannabis store on Vashon Island.

However, it’s when he trundles across the beach inside a sand-coloured box to observe seals and sealions during their peak breeding season that he really gets carried away. He simply can’t resist taking a “sealfie”.

Summary

The presenter travels 1,500 miles to the San Juan Islands in Washington State, just off America's North West Pacific coast, on the border with Canada. There are more than 100 islands, mostly uninhabited. From the San Juan Islands, Martin travels down America's West coast to visit the Channel Islands National Park, which is known as `America's Galapagos' because of its unique wildlife. Later, Martin takes a 2,000-mile journey across the States to Louisiana, where he visits Avery Island and Delacroix Island.
