Bad-tempered and trigger-happy Lord Hollingworth is murdered in a local youth hostel where the Kembleford Ramblers and Twitchers Association are staying in this episode from early 2019. But can his death really be down to a row about public access to footpaths across his lordship’s estate?

It’s always risky when a long-running drama takes its characters out of their familiar surroundings, but there’s something delightful about seeing Father Brown wearing tweedy knickerbockers rather than his normal clerical robes. This, plus the usual morass of intrigue and guest appearances by Shameless and EastEnders star Maggie O’Neill and The Durrells’ Callum Woodhouse, adds up to a very enjoyable outing.

Summary

The Kembleford Ramblers' annual outing takes a tragic turn when the local lord is found strangled, so the cleric gets his walking boots on to solve the crime. Murder mystery, starring Mark Williams.
