Review

Cruising’s increasingly popular: two million Brits took a cruise holiday in 2017. Hence the return — at the busiest holiday-booking time of the year — of The Cruise, now in its sixth series. This time, we’re on board Majestic Princess, getting to know the crew (including captain Dino and general manager Jasper) and passengers of this new 3,500-guest behemoth, as it embarks on its maiden voyage from Shanghai to Sydney.

As well as being a nice promo for Majestic Princess’s owners, it’s also ideal for armchair travellers, although they might be slightly disheartened by very low bridges and the odd typhoon.

Summary

Documentary set on board the Majestic Princess, capable of carrying 3,500 guests and with a crew of 1,400 - including a few familiar faces from past series. The cruise ship, under the leadership of captain Dino and hotel general manager Jasper, will be travelling from Australia and New Zealand to Hong Kong and Singapore - with an equator-crossing party along the way. This route represents new ground for the company and creates more than its fair share of navigational challenges.
