Chocolate Dreams - Inside Hotel Chocolat

Chocolate Dreams - Inside Hotel Chocolat

Series 1

Even if, post Christmas, you’ve sworn off chocolate this is a very tasty morsel (and a great ad for the brand). We join Hotel Chocolat founder Angus Thirlwell as he opens a new branch in Sunderland, taste tests one of his chocolatiers’ latest creations and visits his cocoa plantation in St Lucia. His company makes a million chocolates every day and launches ten new products every month but Angus seems to be a nice, hands-on kind of boss who is passionate about his product.

And if you fancy staying in an actual Hotel Chocolat, you can. It’s in St Lucia and the restaurant’s menu involves all things cacao.

Part one of two. Documentary going behind the scenes at one of Britain's biggest independent chocolate-makers to see how they make a million items of confectionery a day, following staff as they develop and pitch new creations, and learning how the company prepares for the most important events in the calendar. Chocolatier Kiri pitches her new Lady Marmalade chocolate in the hope of getting it signed off and into stores, but first she has to get it past the tough critics on the tasting panel, while director Angus travels to St Lucia to visit his 140-acre cocoa plantation.
