Review

The five celebrities left in the competition are now a mere chassé away from that glitterball trophy because the final is next week.

This year we’ve not had a wildcard like Ed Balls or Ann Widdecombe to give us “interesting” results, so right from the start the bookies have had Joe Sugg and Stacey Dooley as certs for the final. But since their trip to Blackpool, the celebs have generally been within a point or two of each other on the leaderboard so you might notice them starting to hedge their bets. In any case, viewers will probably be swayed by the person they like the most or possibly the one who has improved the most. That Strictly journey always plays a big part in voters’ decisions.

Naturally, all the celebrities are hoping to waltz through to the final … except they can’t just waltz because they must perform two dances tonight. Little Mix perform in tomorrow night’s results show.

Summary

The semi-final sees Ashley Roberts, Faye Tozer, Joe Sugg, Lauren Steadman and Stacey Dooley and their professional partners take to the dancefloor once again to demonstrate their skills. All the contestants face two dances apiece as they try to win the favour of judges Shirley Ballas, Bruno Tonioli, Darcey Bussell and Craig Revel Horwood - and the viewers at home - if they are to be in with a chance of winning. Once the show is over, voting lines are opened, and fans are given a chance to have their say over who should make it to the final.
