Review
by
Alison Graham
In a new drama centred on the lives of what ITV describes as “three complex and vibrant women” your heart might sink at the most simplistic of all clichés, the one used so often to signal “Busy women! Lots to do!” – the harassed mum/hurried breakfast/rounding up the kids/”Have you got your school project?” scene.
But bear with
Deep Water
(based on the series of novels set in Windermere by Paula Daly) because it becomes something a lot more promising and interesting. The trio of women – Lisa (Anna Friel), Roz (Sinead Keenan) and Kate (Rosalind Eleazar) – are on the surface all friends, but there are ructions in the lives of each and every one of them that will have an impact on their relationships.
The catalyst is a terrible dinner party where Lisa does something very unwise, something that has unthinkable, catastrophic consequences.
Summary
Six-part drama based on the Windermere novels by Paula Daly, following the lives of three women and the personal struggles each of them face. Over-stretched, working mother Lisa never lives up to the expectations she sets herself, and cannot help but compare herself to her female friends, Kate and Roz. Behind closed doors however, each of the women struggle with the pressures to keep up the image of having the 'perfect life'. Starring Anna Friel, Rosalind Eleazar and Sinead Keenan.
