Review

“Teamwork makes the dream work, guys!” trills a competitor in this spritzy new talent show. But hang on, we don’t come to reality TV to watch things go swimmingly: “Hatings get the ratings” is nearer the mark in TV terms, so as two teams make over showhomes (mostly in teal and pink, for some reason), what we’re really after is a little light friction, with highlights of bitchiness – and we get it. Just enough to offer the promise of feuds to come.

With Fearne Cotton overseeing proceedings and designer Matthew Williamson dropping by as guest judge, the show moves along very enjoyably, a blur of mankles, stylistic “passion” and feature walls. The contestants are well cast – ten up-and-coming designers from different backgrounds – and there are plenty of chances for us viewers to tut at rogue wallpaper or make a mental note to steal ideas.

Summary

Aspiring designers take on commercial interior challenges, as they compete to win a life changing contract. Presented by Fearne Cotton. In the first episode, the ten contestants are split into two teams and must redesign two show homes, working together to deliver a cohesive end product that impresses the judges and is accessible to prospective buyers.
