Review

I love the way Romesh Ranganathan gets shirty with his own director over sequences of his travel show that are calculated to make him look like a berk. Tonight that includes an attempt to go skiing in Bosnia (“Sri Lankan people are not meant to ski… Utterly pointless”), dressing him up as Archduke Franz Ferdinand (“People are saying, ‘Apparently a bellboy was assassinated on that corner…’”) and riding down a disused bobsleigh track.

It’s another splendid episode of an always enjoyable show, with several cacklingly funny sequences. But there’s also a respectful look at the effects of war on the region, including the tunnel that saved Sarajevo during the 1992 siege.

Summary

Romesh Ranganathan visits Bosnia and Herzegovina to discover how this small corner of Eastern Europe has changed since the war, with the aid of a local museum curator. He tries out Sarajevo's abandoned bobsleigh track, a remnant of the 1984 winter Olympics, stays in a `war hostel', and meets a man who claims to have discovered the world's largest pyramid.
