Live ICC Cricket World Cup

England v Australia

England v Australia

Whatever the format, England v Australia at cricket will always be the big one, preferably with Lord’s providing the backdrop, as it does today. Over the course of the previous 11 World Cups, the teams have met seven times, with Australia winning five of those encounters, including the only time the teams faced off in a final, in 1987 in Kolkata.

Australia are the defending champions, but in a one-day series last summer they succumbed to England 5–0, including a defeat in which England set a record one-day total of 481. But will any of the 22 men out there today care much about history? You’d hope not. Highlights at 11pm on Channel 4.

England v Australia. Coverage of the group-stage match between the fierce rivals, which takes place at Lord's. Just two round-robin matches remain for both teams after this one, but whether the sides are assured of their places in the semi-finals or not, they will each be looking to make a statement, having started the tournament as two of the favourites.
