Review

Straight into the hard stuff this week, as Noel Fitzpatrick awaits the arrival of a spaniel puppy that’s been hit by a car. An x-ray, forwarded on by the normal, non-super vet who saw little Albie first, shows a spinal fracture, and that’s just the beginning of a twisting tale that could, at every stage, lead to the worst possible ending.

The case of Flora the Scottish terrier – a “Monopoly dog” – also has more to it than first impressions suggest, and requires some detective work that leads to Dr Noel and the animal’s owner bonding over a shared love of Columbo. But one stage of the examination is – painfully for Flora – more like All Creatures Great and Small.

Summary

A 10-month-old puppy called Albie is knocked over by a car on a family camping holiday is rushed in as an emergency admission, and Noel fears this may be a life or death situation. Elsewhere, a Scottish terrier has a mysterious ailment, and a 16-month-old spaniel, is suffering from severe arthritis affecting both hips.
