Review

I do love a nice piece of misdirection. And there’s a cracker in the first five minutes of this episode, where an unexpected death leads Sherlock and Joan in one direction, only for the case to go in entirely another. But their investigation is hampered by our detective’s failing health, leaving him lying on a sofa wearing an eye mask and a large bag of ice on his head. Joan wants him to take his illness seriously and wind down a bit, but that’s easier said than done when the safety of the city is at stake. And Joan has her own issues to distract her – including a letter that she’s studiously refusing to open.

Useful fact of the week, though: thanks to the skyscrapers, you’re highly unlikely to be struck by lightning on the streets of New York.

Summary

Watson and her half sister have conflicting reactions when their estranged biological father dies. A shocking murder sparks a search for a stolen plutonium shipment.
