Review

A grab-bag of heartening RNLI rescues rounds off the series. As always, you get a sense of the incredible relief that swimmers and sailors in trouble must feel when that big orange boat arrives. Among the relieved casualties tonight is 61-year-old Glynis, whose bucket list of things she wants to do before she gets too old includes coasteering – climbing, swimming and jumping your way around a rocky coastline. But for Glynis, one jump has gone wrong, leaving her injured, in a small Cornish cove with the tide racing in.

Meanwhile, in Portishead, RNLI volunteers Kath and Jake are celebrating their wedding anniversary in a restaurant, when a call comes through on their pagers…

Summary

The crews race to save a teenage girl being swept out to sea on an inflatable dinghy off the packed beach at Blackpool, while among the holidaying crowds on the miles of long sandy beaches at Rhyl in north Wales, two girls get caught in a deadly current while swimming just a few metres from shore. On the Cornish coast, a woman trying out the extreme sport of coasteering for the very first time falls several metres down a cliff face onto a beach with a fast incoming tide. Last in the series.
