The Ghost Monument

Series 11 - Episode 2 The Ghost Monument

Review

Jodie Whittaker is the Doctor, of course, but she’s also like an endearingly bossy sister (older/younger, it doesn’t matter), the one who will always help you out, who will always be ready with good advice, who will always be there to cheer you up with a laugh. And, of course, who will always be there to save your life.

We left the Doctor and her three companions hanging in space at the end of the opening episode, but they are quickly rescued by a couple of cynical pilots (Susan Lynch and Shaun Dooley) in ropey spaceships.

After crash-landing on a desolate planet with three suns, the little group meets a lofty potentate in a tent (Art Malik) and everyone is hurled into an allegorical adventure about catastrophe and mass-murder and ethnic cleansing. But there’s a punch-the-air moment at the end.

Summary

The Doctor and her new friends have barely had a chance to recover from their first adventure together before they are plunged into another - which will take Graham, Ryan and Yasmin on their first journey to an alien planet. The unlikely travelling companions are faced with a struggle for survival as they try to solve the mystery at the heart of this strange, dangerous new world. Jodie Whittaker, Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill are joined by guest stars Susan Lynch, Art Malik and Shaun Dooley.
