Review

The only feature more special than the scenery in this inspiring episode is the family Ben meets. New Zealand neo-nomads Andy and Amber live with their kids on a cool, retro school bus. It’s not your typical hippy wagon, though. It’s quite… middle class. The couple spent £20,000 on renovating it after quitting their stressful office jobs.

It all looks idyllic, tootling around Hobbiton from Lord of the Rings, stopping off for a quick surf and a barbie. But it must also be hard work. And, as is usually the case, this drastic change of lifestyle was born out of (near) tragedy. “Once you figure out time is so valuable, nothing else matters,” says Andy.

Summary

Ben travels to New Zealand's North Island, where he meets a young nomadic family led by Amber and Andy, who spend their life exploring the country's wild landscapes. He hears how the family's lives changed forever after one fateful day, how they swapped the stress of the city for a life on the open road, the price they paid for chasing their dream and how the horrors of the past still haunt them today.
