The Bake Off banterer turned empathetic documentary host has excellent, and perhaps less familiar, sketches in her faves cupboard, too. Such as Will Ferrell and Christopher Walken in a Blue Oyster Cult send-up on Saturday Night Live (“I gotta have more cowbell”). And a Time Trumpet skit from sultan of satire Armando Iannucci (“He wasn’t reflecting the news, he was predicting it”).

Perkins has a personal connection with all her choices — especially her breakthrough courtesy of French and Saunders…
