Review
by
David Butcher
It’s a full-force, knockabout edition this week, climaxing with the sight of David Mitchell keening with laughter as Lee Mack tries – in the face of all probability – to claim he recently did a taxidermy course and made a stuffed mouse on a tiny skateboard.
It’s harder to pick the bones out of the “This Is My…” round, in which guest John could plausibly be (a) a man who hiccupped through a play Sheila Hancock was in, (b) David’s neighbourhood watch organiser or (c) Stephen Mangan’s cousin, with whom he once hid for an hour from a piece of rope they thought was a snake. “It seems to me you can drive a bus through the holes in all three of them,” sighs Mark Bonnar on the other team.
Meanwhile, Lee has a go at David’s lack of a common touch: “He’s never ended a sentence with mate,” he scoffs. To which Mitchell shoots back, “Except when playing chess.”
Summary
Porridge star Mark Bonnar, actress Sheila Hancock, actor Stephen Mangan and radio and TV presenter Anita Rani join team captains David Mitchell and Lee Mack on the comedy panel show in which participants attempt to hoodwink their opponents with absurd facts and plausible lies about themselves. Hosted by Rob Brydon.
