Summary
Medical sitcom about the unseen world of hospitals, following a wannabe doctor who starts work as a porter.
Medical sitcom about the unseen world of hospitals, following a wannabe doctor who starts work as a porter.
This patchy comedy about the porters in an NHS hospital concludes, as the ever-tragic Simon attempts once again to impress (the also quite dim) nurse Lucy, by pitching to the hospital’s fast-track management scheme. His bright idea to improve efficiency is, more or less, to use tasers on slacking employees, which does raise a bit of a human rights concern, and, one imagines, the eyebrow of the hospital’s union rep.
The laughs are uneven – it seems the programme can’t quite decide how far it’s willing to push the envelope, and its best moments have been its riskiest. One particularly blue line about how a patient accompanies his viewing of Loose Women is one of tonight’s highlights (or low points, depending on your tolerance for smut).
