Traditional Derbyshire oatcakes stuffed with a spicy potato and dill filling, like a samosa. There you have, on a plate, what this series is about. Yes, it’s about food, and yes, it’s about celebrating local British produce. But it also highlights just how multicultural we are and how other cuisines continue to influence our own.

GBBO winner Nadiya Hussain is charming her way around the Peak District (“I should be thinking of rolling hills,” she says with a disarmingly big smile, “but I’m thinking bakewell tart instead”). Here she tries her hand at making those oatcakes as well as doing some pickling before cooking delicious-looking dishes such as tandoori cod burger and sumac lamb chops. Her joyous enthusiasm – for the people she meets as well as the food she tastes – is irresistible.


Nadiya Hussain explores the culinary traditions of the Peak District and surrounding areas, beginning by putting her own twist on the classic Bakewell tart. She then joins Ian Barrett to learn how to make Derbyshire oatcakes, before using them as a casing for her potato and dill samosas.
